It's starting to look a lot like Christmas

Today I spent the whole day baking and preparing Christmas presents with my kids...

Let me tell you one thing: I AM VERY TIRED NOW!!!!

Here a little sneak peek into the not quite finished results from our holiday bakery...

And here the recipe for the VERY yummie Swiss traditional "Mailänderli" cookies:

250gr butter
250gr sugar

2 eggs
1/2 pkg Vanilla sugar
1 lemon (zest)
500gr flour

Mix everything together and then store for at least 3 hours in your fridge.
Roll the dough out and get creative with different cookie cutters.

If you go for the traditional version, brush some egg yolk on the cookie.

Then bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes in the oven at 165 degree Celsius.

If you want to decorate the baked cookies, wait until they are completely cooled.

For the decoration/icing (if wanted) I used:
1 eggwhite
200gr icing sugar
1 dash of lemon juice
for the color add some food coloring.

Mix it well, and off you go!

xx Linda
